Moving day Tips
I’ve been in the removal industry for many years now and until this day there is still a lot of question is that customers do have with regards to preparing for the moving day.
Being organised for your moving day has many benefits. It will save you a lot of hassle, a lot of stress and you will also be saving a considerable amount of money on the price of having to hire a removalist. You could do help speed up the whole process by doing things such as dismantling your bed, ensuring that all the contents of your fridge and freezer are put into eskys, dismantling trampolines if there are any, as well as ensuring that your plants are dry and covered up.
Its important to have your fridge defrosted overnight. Many removalists out there will not be happy with the fact that a fridge that is not defrosted overnight will leak when tilted on its side and will make a mess when in the moving truck. The removalists on that day are allowed to refuse to move your fridge if it’s not defrosted properly for health and safety reasons, therefore, it’s very important to ensure that you know all the terms and conditions and what’s required of you. If you aren’t sure then I will suggest to give them a call and I’m sure they will be more than happy to assist you with any queries you may have.
preparing your washing machine is another very important factor to consider. Usually, washing machines are placed in their corner and not moved for a very long period of time. A lot of the time the fittings can actually get jammed. Taps can also get jammed in the open position. In the case this happens the only option here would be to turn the water mains off in order to be able to disconnect the washing machine. Ensure that your washing machine is not on a running cycle when the removalists arrive there so make sure that you do your washing prior to your booking time.
Pot plants are another one to look for. Many removalists will have policies against picking up pot plants so it’s important to check well in advance whether they can or cannot move your pot plans. Pot plants can be very messy, carry a lot of dirt and bugs. For health and safety reasons removalists might choose to refuse to have them on the moving truck. If this is the case I will suggest possibly if you have a friend with a ute to perhaps ask him or her if you can use their vehicle or whether he or she can help you move the pot plants and you can possibly give them a case of beer or some sort of reward at the end of it. Also, although the removalists might not be able to move your pot plants in their truck, they will most definitely help you load then into your friend’s ute.
Having things dismantled will also help you save money on your moving day. Most beds these days are very easy to dismantle they usually come flat packed therefore there is a very high chance you already had to put them up before. Grab your screwdrivers and start on doing anything possible that will help you save time on your moving date. Even trampolines to be taken apart as well. by doing so you may be able to save yourself a second trip and saving you money.
